Tip of The Day!

October 6, 2018

I would love to thank my SHWs and FCs and so many new folks for your continued support and sharing me with other SHWs and FCs.  We are a team and a small community with big dreams.  We support local and family friendly spaces so our kids can play while we do!  I had a new client named Jessica from the NE Columbia area come in and share me on instagram while in the store, so a big shout out to her and the other amazing crafters that have let the local community know that I have a craft vinyl and heat vinyl store right here in their back yards. Columbia/Irmo, SC

So here are the colors of the week.  These are 10% off from Tuesday-Saturday of the week following each Friday post, so please check my www.facebook.com/wesplurge or @wesplurge on Facebook.  I have links on the homepage.

Don't forget about the glitter cup level 1 training scheduled for 21 October 2018 at 2pm (1 slot remains).  We also have one scheduled for 4 November 2018 at 2pm (10 slots remain.).  Call me at 803-708-2000 to reserve your slot. Jada Powell will be our distinguished instructor for the training.  Everything is included in the $25 per person fee.  It is also a Craft and Draft© so bring your preferred beverage of choice.

Finally, the tip of the day with permanent vinyl.  I have had clients express frustration with decal vinyl.  I use contact paper.  I place it over the decal once it is weeded.  I rub it firmly for about 20-30 seconds.  I then flip the decal over onto the contact paper side on a hard surface.  I then peel the paper back and fold it over onto itself, and slowly peel the paper back over itself.  I do not pull up, because it puts too much pressure on the decal to separate from the paper.  So roll the paper back onto itself until the decal is on the contact paper using your tool to tack down any of the pieces of your vinyl that do not want to come off of the paper.

You will then place your decal on the cleaned surface.  Despite your desire to immediately peel your contact paper, STEP AWAY FROM THE DECAL!!!  Stop being an overachiever and wanting to peel immediately.  The adhesive is similar to crazy glue.  It is not immediately permanently adhered to the new surface.  It takes about 30 seconds to a minute.  I recommend at least one minute.  Then you will do the same procedure with peeling back the contact paper.  Peel it back folding the corner back over itself and roll it, do not pull it, from the decal using your tool to tack down any parts that want to come off with the contact paper.

Lastly, and most important - as much as you want to share this and show it off, it is advisable to set it aside and let it "cure" for 48-72 hours.  They will be more impressed with the longevity of your decal with the years it will last versus the immediate show and use while the decal begins to peel.  Just saying.

Don't forget to check me out on Google, facebook, linked in, or twitter.

Call me with any questions, and folks are welcome to come to the studio to get one on one instruction on the cricut or silhouette, press their shirts, use the printer, and simply craft amongst friends.

Let's make something!!!
